Questions before you create a custom book

Ordering and customization

What happens after I place an order?

You will upload photos, names, recipient details, and story direction after checkout. OwnTale then creates the personalized digital version and sends it to your email for review.

Do I need to register an account to customize?

The planned customization flow will use a secure order link so customers can start from their order without creating a separate OwnTale account.

What photos should I upload?

Use clear, well-lit photos that show the face, pet, couple, or reference subject. Front-facing photos are best. You can also add notes about personality, clothing, relationship, interests, or favorite scenes.

Can I create couple, pet, or idol comics?

Yes. OwnTale supports AI picture books for children, couple comics, pet comics, idol-style fictional fan comics, avatar photo books, baby learning books, and baby learning posters.

Digital proof and edits

Can I edit the digital version?

Yes. This is a core OwnTale promise. After the digital proof is emailed, you can request page-by-page edits before confirming print production.

What can be changed before print?

You can request edits to names, text, photo choices, character details, page order, and layout direction. The exact edit scope may depend on the product type and package.

When does printing start?

Printed books and posters start production only after you approve the final digital version. Digital-only products are delivered by email.

What if I only want the digital edition?

You can choose the digital edition when the product offers it. The final file is delivered by email after personalization and review.

Shipping, refunds, and privacy

Can I cancel or get a refund?

Cancellations are available before personalization work begins. After you approve a digital proof for print, printed custom items can be refunded or replaced only for OwnTale production errors, defects, or shipping damage.

Why are printed custom items not normally returnable?

Each printed product is made specifically for your order. To reduce risk, OwnTale sends an editable digital proof first and prints only after your approval.

How is my personal information used?

Uploaded photos, names, story notes, and pet or family details are used only to create and support your order. They are not needed for unrelated marketing or resale.

How do I contact support?
